These terms govern the use of El Ciervo Blanco. By browsing the site or creating a reader account you accept them; if you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

1. Who runs the site

El Ciervo Blanco is a cultural outreach website operated by El Ciervo Blanco (“we”, “us”). You can write to us at support@elciervoblanco.com.

2. About the content

We publish articles about mythology, magic, religion and folklore for informational, cultural and educational purposes. Describing a belief, a ritual or a practice does not mean we recommend it or claim that it works.

  • Nothing published here is medical, psychological, legal or financial advice. In particular, do not ingest or apply plants, oils, incense or other substances mentioned in a historical or ritual context without first consulting a qualified professional.
  • We check every article carefully, but historical knowledge changes and we can make mistakes. If you find an error, let us know and we will correct it.
  • We write in Spanish. The English versions are drafted with the help of artificial intelligence and reviewed by a person; if the two differ, the Spanish version prevails.

3. Intellectual property

The texts, original illustrations, logo and design of the site belong to their authors or to us and are protected by intellectual property laws. All rights reserved, unless a work states a different license.

  • You may quote short excerpts from an article as long as you credit “El Ciervo Blanco” and link to the original article, and share links on social media.
  • You may not, without our written permission, reproduce whole articles or substantial parts of them, republish our images, or use the content for commercial purposes.
  • Some images belong to third parties (museums, archives, artists) or are in the public domain; their credits and licenses are shown next to them and their owners’ terms apply.

4. Reader accounts

You do not need an account to read the site. If you create one (with your email, Google or Apple), you agree to:

  • be at least 16 years old, or the minimum age required by the law of your country to consent on your own behalf;
  • provide accurate information and keep your email address up to date;
  • keep your password and verification codes secret, and tell us if you suspect unauthorized access.

Accounts are personal and free. You can ask us to delete yours at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or are used abusively or fraudulently.

5. Acceptable use

When using the site you agree not to:

  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to other people’s accounts, the administration area or our systems;
  • interfere with the site, overload it or bypass its security measures;
  • create accounts automatically or with false information;
  • download the content in bulk or by automated means beyond what our robots.txt file allows;
  • use the site for unlawful activities or in ways that infringe the rights of others.

6. Advertising, affiliate links and donations

El Ciervo Blanco is free and is funded in three ways:

  • Advertising. We show Google AdSense ads. Ads are selected by Google and do not mean we endorse the advertised products. How your data is used for this is explained in the privacy policy and the cookie policy.
  • Affiliate links. Some links to books, music or other products are affiliate links: if you buy through them we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We only link to things we find useful or interesting, and commissions do not influence our opinions.
  • Donations. Donations are voluntary and handled by third-party platforms (for example PayPal or Ko-fi), which process the payment under their own terms; we never receive your card details. A donation does not entitle you to anything in return, is not tax-deductible, and can only be refunded under the rules of the platform used.

If we ever publish sponsored content, we will say so clearly in the article itself.

Articles link to sources, shops and other websites we do not control. We are not responsible for their content, their privacy practices or the products they sell.

We respect copyright and respond to notices of infringement under applicable law, including the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). If you believe something published here infringes your rights, send a notice to support@elciervoblanco.com that includes:

  1. identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed;
  2. the exact address (URL) of the material on El Ciervo Blanco;
  3. your name, postal address, telephone number and email address;
  4. a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent or the law;
  5. a statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner of the rights or authorized to act on the owner’s behalf;
  6. your physical or electronic signature.

We will remove or disable the material where appropriate. Anyone who believes material was removed by mistake may send us a counter-notice the same way.

9. Warranties and liability

The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do our best to keep it working and its information accurate, but we do not guarantee that it is free of errors or interruptions. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damages arising from the use of the site or from reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have under the consumer protection laws of your country or excludes any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes to the site or the law. We will publish the new version on this page with its date and, if the change is significant and you have an account, we will let you know by email. If you keep using the site after the update, you accept the new version.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the country where the site owner is established. If you live in the European Union or in another country whose law gives you protections that cannot be waived by contract, you keep those protections and may bring proceedings in the courts where you live.
