Cookie policy
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Here we explain which ones are used on El Ciervo Blanco, who sets them and how you can control them.
1. What our site stores
Our pages set no cookies of their own. We only use your browser’s local storage for what is essential, and that data never leaves your device except for the session, which is sent only to our own server to identify you when you sign in:
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
cb-theme | localStorage | Remembers whether you prefer the light or dark theme. | Until you delete it |
cb-reader-session | sessionStorage or localStorage | Keeps you signed in to your reader account. It only exists if you sign in; it is kept in localStorage if you tick “Keep me signed in on this device”. | Until you close the tab or sign out |
They are strictly necessary for features you ask for, so they do not require consent.
2. Third-party cookies
Some pages load services from other companies, which may set their own cookies or identifiers:
| Provider | Where | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdSense | Pages with ads | Serving ads, capping how often they repeat, measuring their performance, preventing fraud and, if you allow it, personalizing them. Learn more. |
| Google consent management platform | Pages with ads, in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland | Remembering the privacy choices you make. |
| Google (Sign in with Google) | Account pages, when available | Showing the Google button and letting you sign in with your Google account. |
| Apple (Sign in with Apple) | Account pages, when available | Letting you sign in with your Apple ID. |
Each provider controls these cookies under its own privacy policy. Videos or other content embedded in an article (for example, from YouTube) may also set cookies from their provider.
3. Your consent
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, before advertising cookies are used we will show you a notice from a Google-certified consent management platform so you can accept, reject or choose by purpose. If you reject them, Google can only show non-personalized ads. You can change your choice at any time from the “Privacy and cookie settings” link shown on pages with ads.
Wherever you are, you can turn off personalized advertising in Google’s My Ad Center, aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu.
4. How to control them in your browser
Every browser lets you view, block and delete cookies and local storage from its privacy settings. If you delete them, the site will forget your theme and you will need to sign in again; if you block third-party cookies, the site will keep working, although you may not be able to sign in with Google or Apple.
To learn more about how we handle your data, see the privacy policy.
